Caroline Bowman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Barnard College. Her research focuses on Kant, 19th-century German philosophy, and social/political philosophy, particularly Hegel's theories of freedom and autonomy.

Her scholarship examines the philosophical systems of Kant and Hegel, with a focus on nature-freedom relationships and self-consciousness. Recent publications include analyses of Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit and Kant's Critique of Judgment.
