Carole Watson is a Principal Lecturer and Associate Head of School in Journalism and Communications at the University of Sunderland. With 25 years of professional journalism experience, she has held senior roles such as Deputy Editor of Grazia and Head of Features at the Daily Mirror. She is a member of the media law examinations board for the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). Her academic credentials include a PGCert in Teaching of Higher Education and Senior Fellow status with the Higher Education Academy.
Her teaching focuses on journalism modules including media law, fashion journalism, and court reporting, leading a team delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in journalism, sports journalism, and public relations. Her research expertise spans media law, fashion journalism, and magazine industry practices. She has contributed chapters to notable publications like The Magazines Handbook and Fashion Journalism.
