Carole Gardener is a Senior Research Associate in the School of Health Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the Lifespan Health group. She holds a PhD in Public Health and Primary Care from the University of Cambridge, where she previously worked on studies like the Living with Breathlessness project and co-led the I'm Fine study. Her research focuses on holistic, person-centered supportive care in healthcare, particularly for patients with chronic/progressive conditions. She co-developed the SNAP intervention to improve patient-centered care, funded by Marie Curie.
Key roles include leading a Marie Curie study adapting SNAP for prison populations and contributing to the NIHR ARC East of England Palliative and End of Life Care Theme. She has collaborated on projects such as SNAP in District Nursing and Mental Health, and a Carer Support Nurse pilot. Her work emphasizes patient support needs assessment and interdisciplinary collaboration, with publications in journals like BMC Palliative Care and Chronic Illness.
