Carole Fortin is an Associate Professor at the University of Montreal's School of Rehabilitation, affiliated with the CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center. Her expertise focuses on pediatric scoliosis, postural control, and neurophysiological mechanisms in movement disorders. She holds clinical and academic roles in physiotherapy, combining clinical practice with research.
Education: B.Sc. in Physiotherapy (1983), M.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences (2004), Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (2010), Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cognitive Neuroscience (Aix Marseille University, 2010–2012).
Research Interests: Scoliosis biomechanics, postural re-education, and neurophysiological adaptations in adolescents. Key projects include randomized trials on postural interventions and cortical sensorimotor dynamics in scoliosis. She has developed validated clinical tools like the Clinical Posture Photography Assessment Tool (CPPAT).
Grants & Awards: Over 10 grants including FRQ-S, IRSC, and international collaborations. Notable awards include the 2013 Travel Award and Dean’s Excellence Award.
Labs & Teams: Member of the Centre de recherche Azrieli du CHU Sainte-Justine and leading projects on avatar-based rehabilitation and foot orthosis design.
