Carol Jacobe is an Adjunct Professor and Music Director at Le Moyne College, where she has taught part-time for 20 years and founded the vocal jazz ensemble The Jazzuits. With 52 years of music education experience across Liverpool and Baldwinsville school districts, she specializes in vocal jazz pedagogy and ensemble leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music from Syracuse University.
Research Focus: Her work centers on vocal jazz performance techniques, choral direction methodologies, jazz education curriculum development, inclusive ensemble programming, and contemporary jazz arrangement. She actively publishes compositions through Hal Leonard and ArrangeMe.
Awards & Leadership:
- Jazz Central's first female Jazz Educator of the Year (2015)
- Guest conductor for 2024 NY All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble
- NYSSMA All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble chairperson
- ACDA Vocal Jazz Repertoire & Standards Chair (NY State)
She adjudicates national jazz festivals and leads the Sammy-nominated quartet Salt City Voices. Her ensemble direction has produced Downbeat Award-winning students.
