Carol Crawford Holcomb is a Professor and holds the Janey S. Briscoe Chair of Religion and Life at the College of Christian Studies, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She has been with the university since 1999 and has contributed extensively to the fields of American Religious History, Baptist Studies, and Women in American Christianity.
- Education: Ph.D. from Baylor University, M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, B.A. from Louisiana Tech University.
Her research focuses on Baptist women's role in Progressivism, the Social Gospel movement, Southern religion, the Southern Baptist Woman's Missionary Union, and race relations in Baptist history. Her publications span from 1996 to 2025, with recent works addressing Baptist contributions to religious liberty and historical reinterpretation.
Notable awards include the W. O. Carver Distinguished Service Award (2017), multiple Norman Cox Awards for best articles (2013, 2001), and the Faculty Award for Excellence in Scholarship (2007). She actively participates in academic societies such as the American Academy of Religion and Baptist History and Heritage Society.
