Carol Camp Yeakey is the Marshall S. Snow Professor of Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis and Founding Director of the Center on Urban Research & Public Policy and the Interdisciplinary Program in Urban Studies. She holds joint appointments in Education, American Culture Studies, and Urban Studies & Public Policy. With a PhD in Social Policy from Northwestern University, her research focuses on social welfare policy impacting marginalized groups, urban contexts, and neighborhood dynamics. She has authored/co-edited over 15 books and serves on editorial boards for international journals. Notable awards include membership in the National Academy of Education (2016) and the Distinguished Career Contribution to Research Award from AERA (2012).
Her research emphasizes global urban marginality, health disparities, and socio-economic inequities. She has presented at institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, and the University of Cape Town. Current projects include cancer prevention among low-income women of color, funded by interdisciplinary grants.
