معرفی
Prof. Carmen Rubio-Verdú leads the 2D Quantum Materials group at ICFO, focusing on correlated phases in two-dimensional systems using low-temperature Scanning Tunneling Microscopy/Spectroscopy (STM/STS). Her work explores magic-angle graphene, rhombohedral graphene, and transition metal dichalcogenides, aiming to unravel superconductivity, Mott insulators, and spin liquids at atomic resolution. The group investigates moiré systems, where twisting and stacking layers create novel quantum states.
The group's recent publications highlight breakthroughs in electron pairing mechanisms, Kondo-lattice behavior, and electric-field-tunable nematic phases. Their research spans quantum simulation, defect-bound excitons, and Yu-Shiba-Rusinov states in superconductors, with applications in quantum materials engineering.
Prof. Rubio-Verdú's team actively recruits Master students, Ph.D. candidates, and postdocs, emphasizing analogue electron quantum simulators and ultraclean heterostructures. Collaborative opportunities exist through ICFO's QTWIST program, focusing on quantum technologies with 2D materials.
