Carmen Rivera serves as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at Colorado State University (CSU), co-chair of the Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) master’s program, and Talent Manager for Organizational Development. She is also an instructor in the SAHE program and faculty member at the Social Justice Training Institute (SJTI), where she co-leads facilitation. Her roles emphasize leadership development, social justice, and equity in higher education.

Dr. Rivera’s research focuses on LatCrit, intersectionality, and Chicana Feminist Epistemology, with an emphasis on leadership in higher education. Her work integrates testimonios and pláticas to center marginalized voices. She advises students in the SAHE program and leads initiatives in organizational development and inclusive leadership.
Awards: 2020 Dissertation of the Year Award from the American College Personnel Association.
She has held roles in TRiO programs, international education (Director of Student Experience at INTO CSU), and social justice consulting. Her professional networks include the SJTI and LeaderShape. Beyond academia, she prioritizes family, cultural interests (Frida Kahlo, 90’s R&B), and travel.
