Carmen Nuzzo

Carmen Nuzzo serves as Professor in Practice and Executive Director of the Transition Pathway Initiative Centre (TPI Centre) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), part of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment since May 2023. She leads the Centre's strategy, research, and operations focused on supporting investors and policymakers in the low-carbon economic transition through independent research and open-access data.

Leveraging 20+ years of macroeconomic and financial industry expertise, her work bridges climate science with financial decision-making, emphasizing ESG integration, sovereign risk analysis, and policy frameworks for decarbonization. She develops practical tools for translating climate data into investment strategies while addressing equity considerations in global finance.

Her recent publications reveal a concentrated focus on sovereign climate risk assessment methodologies, particularly through the ASCOR framework which establishes standardized metrics for evaluating national climate progress. These works demonstrate increasing sophistication in climate-financial modeling, with growing emphasis on emerging market applications and investor decision-support systems that quantify transition risks and opportunities.

As Executive Director of the TPI Centre, Nuzzo oversees a multidisciplinary research team collaborating with global investors and policymakers.
