Carmen Botia Morillas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Universidad Pablo de Olavide. She is affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Center for Feminist, Women's and Gender Studies (CINEF) and leads research on social inequality and gender dynamics within the research group "Social Inequality and Domination in Andalusia." Her work focuses on parenthood, dual-earner couples, and gendered workplace policies in Spain.
- PhD in Sociology, University of Seville (2011)
Her research explores evolving gender relations through the lens of work-life balance, particularly for fathers in dual-earner households. Key studies include analysis of schedule flexibility, telework, and paternity leave adoption, emphasizing policy interventions to reduce gender disparities. Two notable 2016 publications address these themes:
- Work-Life Balance: Does it matter for men? Investigates barriers to paternal involvement in childcare.
- Decisiones de empleo y cuidado en parejas de dos ingresos en España (Work and Care Decisions in Dual-Earner Couples in Spain).
Her findings highlight persistent workplace hostility toward paternal leave and propose systemic reforms. She contributes to doctoral programs in Culture, Development, Gender, and Social Intervention under the PAIDI (Social and Legal Sciences) framework.
