Carmen Barnhardt

Carmen Barnhardt is a Professor at the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO), part of Marshall B. Ketchum University (MBKU), where she has served since 1996. She currently holds the administrative role of Vice President for Enrollment and Student Services at MBKU, with prior experience as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.

• Education: BS and OD from SCCO; MSEd from California State University, Fullerton; Graduate Certificate in Student Affairs Administration from Colorado State University.

Her research and professional interests span student leadership development, academic and professional support systems, advocacy for healthcare students with disabilities, and health education, promotion, and prevention. She is actively involved in advancing optometric education and student services.

Dr. Barnhardt is recognized for her contributions to optometry, with fellowships in the American Academy of Optometry and College of Optometrists in Vision Development, as well as diplomate status in pediatric and binocular vision. She has spearheaded initiatives like the Student Achievement Center and Student Leadership Certificate program at MBKU.
