Carmela Lucia Perago is an Associate Professor at the Department of Legal Sciences, Faculty of Law, University of Salento (UniSalento), formerly known as the University of Lecce. She has held this tenured position since December 20, 2003, and maintains an active teaching and research profile within the Italian legal academic community.
Her primary research interests focus on Civil Procedural Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Immigration Law, and the Judicial Protection of Minors within the context of Euro-Mediterranean migration governance. Her scholarly work bridges theoretical legal frameworks with practical applications in dispute resolution and migration policy implementation.
As Scientific Director of the UNiSALENTO project 'Models, Systems, and Skills for the Implementation of the Process Office - Start UPP,' approved for funding in January 2022 through the PON GOVERNANCE program, she leads significant institutional innovation initiatives. Her research connects legal theory with practical implementation in judicial processes and administrative systems.
Professor Perago serves as Vice Director of the School of Specialization for Legal Professions at UniSalento's Faculty of Law and participates in the international PhD program in Rights and Sustainability. She is also a practicing lawyer registered with the Lecce Professional Association, working as an arbitrator, sales professional, and mediation trainer.
She is an active member of the Italian Association of Civil Procedure Scholars and has previously served as an elected academic senator (2008-2012) and member of the Department Council (2002-2006). Her professional experience includes service on commissions for legal qualification and access to ordinary judiciary roles.
