Carmela Apreda

Carmela Apreda is a Researcher at the CMCC Foundation's Institute for Climate Resilience, leading the Built Environment Climate Adaptation and Resilience (BE-ADAPT) unit. She earned a Master’s Degree (2014) and PhD in Architecture (2018) from the University of Naples 'Federico II'.

Her research focuses on urban microclimate simulation, climate vulnerability analysis, and adaptation strategies for resilient urban development. She specializes in integrating climatic and non-climatic risk assessment into built environment planning, with applications in the Euro-Mediterranean context.

Key methodologies include urban morphology parameterization for climate modeling, energy-water interventions in buildings, and systemic resilience frameworks. Her work addresses the interplay between land cover datasets, housing block layouts, and climate impacts.
