Carme Torras is a Research Professor at the Institute of Robotics and Industrial Informatics (IRI), a joint center of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), affiliated with the Faculty of Informatics of Barcelona (FIB). She leads the research group in assistive robotics, focusing on ethical, human-centered robotic systems. With over 400 scientific publications, she has made pioneering contributions in robotics, neurocomputing, and artificial intelligence.
