Carly Scrymgeour is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing & Midwifery at Mount Royal University. A Registered Midwife in Alberta since 2012, she practices full-scope midwifery in urban/rural settings while maintaining academic roles as a clinical instructor and faculty member. She holds an AHS Midwifery Staff Appointment at Rockyview General Hospital and participates in clinical education programs like the Emergency Skills Workshop and Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
Education: MScM from Bastyr University, BA (Honors) from University of Calgary. She has served on the Alberta Association of Midwives Executive Board and contributes to professional development through teaching midwifery and medical students.
Research focuses on social determinants of health, midwifery care in high-risk pregnancies, collaborative care models, and decision-making processes in maternal health. Her 2012 publication analyzed birth setting choices in Alberta, reflecting her interest in healthcare accessibility and equity.
