Carlos Vega is a Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Wellesley College. His research and teaching focus on medieval and Renaissance Spanish literature, hagiography (the study of saints' lives), gender issues, and study-abroad theory and practice. He explores how religious figures in literature and art reflect cultural values, particularly in medieval Spain and modern American/Hispanic contexts.

His teaching emphasizes the integration of language and culture, from elementary classes to advanced seminars. He has directed Wellesley’s PRESHCO program in Spain and the Program for Mexican Culture and Society in Puebla, Mexico, and regularly teaches Writing 125 for first-year students. Vega actively participates in international symposia on medieval studies and interdisciplinary initiatives.
