Dr. Carlos Idrobo is an affiliated researcher in Art History at the University of Turku (Finland), specializing in philosophical hermeneutics, 19th-20th century German art, and the intersections of psychology and art. He holds a PhD from Universität Greifswald (2017) and has held postdoctoral positions at UTU and JYU. His current research project, 'Hermeneutics of Walking' (2021-2023), funded by the Kone Foundation, explores walking as an artistic motif and practice in Finnish and global art.
Education: Certified psychologist (Universidad del Valle, 2004), MA in Philosophy (Universidad de los Andes, 2008), PhD in Art History (Universität Greifswald, 2017). Past teaching roles include lectures/seminars on hermeneutics, aesthetics, and pedagogy in Colombia.
Research focuses on the wanderer motif in German art, hermeneutical interpretation of bodily experiences, and the role of walking in artistic reception. Key publications analyze Friedrich’s Rückenfigur, Nietzsche’s Zarathustra, and Finnish art’s engagement with mobility narratives.
Grants: Kone Foundation (2021–2023). Collaborative projects include interdisciplinary studies on cultural memory and identity. Artistic work under the name Luca Idrobo includes experimental photography and prose.
