Carlos Gonzales is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the UWA Medical School and Associate Dean for Indigenous Affairs at the University of Arizona College of Health Sciences. He holds an MD from the University of Arizona and prior roles include Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine and Assistant Dean for Medical Student Education at the UArizona College of Medicine – Tucson. His work emphasizes Indigenous and rural health, primary care strategy, and culturally-responsive medical education.

He chairs the National Academies’ Standing Committee on Primary Care, driving U.S. health system reforms.
