Carlos Broto Blanco

Carlos Broto Blanco is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where he has held the position of Catedrático de Universidad since May 2004. His academic career includes roles such as Profesor Titular de Universidad (1992–2004) and Visiting Assistant Professor at Ohio State University (1989–1990). He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from UAB in 1988, following earlier degrees in 1985 and 1983.

His research focuses on algebraic topology, particularly homotopy theory, group theory, and fusion systems. Key projects include studies on loop space homology, algebraic models for finite loop spaces, and automorphisms of fusion systems. He has been a principal investigator in multiple grants, such as 'Estructuras multiplicativas en topología y teoría de homotopía' (2007–2010) and 'Teoría de homotopia de espacios clasificadores' (2014–2016).

Broto Blanco has supervised doctoral theses and contributed to over 50 research outputs. His work bridges algebraic structures with topological spaces, emphasizing applications in homology, cohomology, and categorical frameworks.
