معرفی
Carlo Nitsch is a Full Professor in Mathematical Analysis at the University of Naples Federico II, affiliated with the Dipartimento di Matematica e applicazioni 'R. Caccioppoli'. His research focuses on partial differential equations, calculus of variations, shape optimization, and geometric inequalities. He holds a Master's in Physics and a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Naples and the University of Rome, respectively, with a visiting period at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (2002–2003). He coordinates the PhD program in Mathematics and Applications and serves on the board of the MPHS PhD program at Scuola Superiore Meridionale.
Notable awards include the Carlo Miranda Prize (2008) and an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (2013). He has been honored as a member of Accademia Pontaniana (2022) and the Accademia di Scienze Fisiche e Matematiche (2024). His work spans theoretical contributions to eigenvalue problems, free boundary phenomena, and optimal design, with applications in material science and engineering. Recent research emphasizes spectral geometry, thermal insulation optimization, and multiplicative controllability of PDEs.
Key publications address isoperimetric inequalities, Robin boundary conditions, and shape optimization in thermal systems. He actively organizes conferences and workshops, such as the 'Frontiers in Calculus of Variations and Applied Analysis' (2025) and 'Matter of Shapes' (2025 INDAM Workshop). His collaborative projects include studies on mean curvature flow and numerical methods for free boundary problems.
