Carley Bartlett is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Law, Society and Criminology at UNSW Law & Justice, currently working on an ARC Linkage Grant focused on regulatory technology and non-urban water compliance and enforcement.
Her educational background includes a PhD from UNSW (2024), a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (Honors 1) from Flinders University (2012), and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Flinders University (2012).
As an empirical researcher informed by Science and Technology Studies, Bartlett investigates sociotechnical conflicts at the interface of law, science and technology. Her research examines how knowledge production and regulation interact in environmental contexts, with specialized expertise in PFAS contamination governance. She analyzes the role of impacted publics in shaping environmental knowledge and regulatory frameworks.
Bartlett teaches LAWS8069 Natural Resources Law and LAWS1061 Torts at UNSW Law & Justice. Her professional background includes work as an environmental planning solicitor, tipstaff to the Chief Judge of the Land and Environment Court of NSW, and researcher at an environmental NGO, providing practical grounding for her academic work.
