Dr. Carla Zarbà is a Fixed-Term Researcher in Rural Economics and Valuation at the University of Catania's Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Di3A), currently contributing to the ONFOODS project focusing on global food sustainability. Her academic journey includes a Master's in Law (2009), a PhD in Agri-food Economics (2013), and an MBA from LUISS Business School (2015). She has held research positions at institutions including the European Commission and University of Florida, with expertise spanning EU policy analysis and SME competitiveness.
Her research centers on agricultural economics, circular economy transition, and novel food systems, with emphasis on sustainability frameworks, regulatory impacts, and agri-food market dynamics. She investigates consumer behavior, supply chain resilience, and policy-driven innovations in Mediterranean agriculture.
Recent publications (2019-2023) demonstrate a strong focus on circular economy implementation, COVID-19 impacts on agri-food systems, and regulatory challenges for novel foods like algae. Methodologies include network analysis, market surveys, and policy evaluation, frequently addressing EU-Italy contextual dynamics.
