Carla Saavedra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at the School of Architecture, Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso. Born on October 14, 1998, she began her academic career at the institution in 2017 and is simultaneously pursuing her Master's degree while teaching.
Her research interests focus on architectural theory and application, with particular emphasis on urban infrastructure, coastal urbanism, and architectural heritage. Dr. Saavedra's work explores the relationship between architectural form and function, interior spatial organization, and the challenges of designing in port city environments.
She has participated in significant field expeditions known as "Crossings," including the Pulpit Crossing (2023) and Chaco Crossing (2024), which appear to be integral to the school's pedagogical approach combining theoretical study with practical field experience.
Throughout her teaching career since 2018, Saavedra has developed expertise across multiple architectural domains, consistently delivering courses that bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application in the field.
