Carl Walkley is a Research Professor at the Hudson Institute's Centre for Innate Immunity and Infectious Disease. He holds a PhD in Medicine from the University of Melbourne (2003) and a B.Pharm (Hons) from an unspecified university (1999). His research focuses on RNA editing mechanisms, particularly ADAR1's role in immune regulation and disease. Current projects include developing therapies for ADAR1 mutant diseases. He collaborates internationally and has published extensively in Molecular Biology, Immunology, and Genetics. Recent work examines ADAR1's impact on cancer, viral immunity, and developmental biology. His lab investigates inflammatory pathways and uses mouse models to study gene functions.
- Education: PhD, Medicine (University of Melbourne), B.Pharm (Hons)
- Active Project: Developing therapies for ADAR1 mutant diseases (2025)
- Top Research Areas: RNA editing, autoinflammatory disorders, innate immunity
His 2023 publications highlight studies on ADAR1's role in preventing autoinflammation, cancer suppression mechanisms, and antiviral immune responses against SARS-CoV-2. Collaborations span institutions globally, focusing on translational research for infectious disease treatments.
