He is part of the ERC-funded MINiTEXTS project led by Professor Ildar Garipzanov. His academic background includes a PhD from the University of Munich (2011).
His research focuses on medieval and early modern history of science, particularly astronomy, chronology, and calendar systems. His contributions highlight the sophistication of pre-modern scientific thought and its role in shaping religious and cultural practices. Current projects explore the global transmission of astronomical knowledge and its impact on European scholarship.
No awards are explicitly listed, but his ERC grant underscores his recognition in the field. Collaborations include work with institutions like the University of Oxford and projects on medieval manuscripts and instruments.
