Carl Kirkpatrick is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Monash University's Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, affiliated with the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety. His research focuses on population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling, optimizing antibacterial dosing (especially aminoglycosides), renal dysfunction dosing, obesity pharmacokinetics, drugs in breast milk, and quality use of medicines. He contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being.
Recent projects include the Monash-Moderna Quantitative Pharmacology Accelerator (2023–2028), advancing heart failure therapeutics (2023–2026), and optimizing oxytocin for maternal health (2022–2023). He has collaborated globally on pharmacokinetic modeling and antibacterial resistance solutions.
Key research outputs from 2023–2024 address oxytocin quantitation in labor, enoxaparin dosing in pediatrics, and pharmacogenomic impacts on cancer therapy. His work emphasizes precision dosing and translational pharmacology across diverse populations, including neonates, critically ill patients, and those with cystic fibrosis.
