معرفی
Carl Johan Franzén is an Assistant Professor in Bioreaction Engineering and Head of the Department of Industrial Biotechnology at Chalmers University of Technology. He is also a member of the Chalmers Faculty Council and the undergraduate education committee in Life Sciences. His research focuses on developing robust bioprocesses for biofuel and biochemical production from lignocellulosic biomass and improving microbial cultures like probiotics and starter cultures. Key areas include dynamic modeling of fed-batch processes, advanced bioethanol production, and thermophilic bacterial systems. He collaborates with industries to enhance bioprocess designs for sustainability and efficiency. Dr. Franzén holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Chalmers (1997) and a licentiate in Biochemical Engineering (1994).
Education: PhD in Chemical Engineering (Chalmers, 1997), Licentiate in Biochemical Engineering (Chalmers, 1994). Research interests span biorefinery systems, microbial physiology, and process optimization. His work emphasizes reducing carbon emissions through efficient utilization of agricultural and forestry byproducts.
Publications highlight advancements in probiotic stability mechanisms, lignocellulosic ethanol production, and yeast fermentation strategies. Projects include multi-scale process analysis, stress tolerance in Bifidobacteria, and high-gravity bioprocess development. Dr. Franzén’s contributions bridge fundamental science and industrial applications, addressing global challenges in sustainable biotechnology.
