Thompson’s research focuses on cardiovascular and renal physiology, particularly the regulation of blood flow by adenosine and nitric oxide. His work spans myocardial glucose uptake, renal oxygen consumption, and pulmonary hypertension, integrating biostatistics and molecular physiology. Recent publications emphasize transgenic models and pharmacological interactions.
He has received multiple accolades, including the Student Teaching Award from NYMC SOM, Outstanding Faculty Awards from GSBMS Graduate Student Association, and recognition as a Core Medical Educator. He was elected President of NYMC’s Faculty Senate and serves as a Faculty Advisor to the Graduate Student Forum.
