معرفی
Carl Hoegler is a Professor of Biology at Mount Saint Mary College, where he teaches courses in Neuroscience, Physiology, and Developmental Biology. His research focuses on physiological mechanisms in organisms like horseshoe crabs, gray tree frogs, and flatworms, with recent emphasis on enzyme roles in osmoregulation and environmental impacts on regeneration. He actively collaborates with institutions including New York Medical College and Pace University.
Education: Doctor of Philosophy (Fordham University), Master of Science (Fordham University), Bachelor of Science (Manhattan College).
Research interests include comparative physiology, developmental biology, and environmental toxicology. He advocates inquiry-based learning, mentoring student projects such as herbicide effects on flatworm regeneration. Recent work explores seed protein biochemistry and maternal genome influence in plants.
Key achievements include NIH and NSF grants leading to fostering research environments at women’s colleges and curriculum innovation. Awards include NIH-EARDA grants (1997-2006) and NSF-CCLI grants (2002-2005).
Advising and grants: Over two decades of student mentorship, including two 2020 projects. Collaborative grants have supported lab initiatives and pedagogical reforms.
Labs/Teams: Engaged with New York Medical College and Pace University on cardiovascular and environmental studies.
