Carine Douarche is an Associate Professor in Physics at Paris-Saclay University's Faculty of Sciences d'Orsay. She is affiliated with the FAST Laboratory (CNRS UMR 7608) and conducts interdisciplinary research at the interface of physics and biology.
- Research focuses on collective bacterial behavior, biofilm morphogenesis, and motility in heterogeneous environments.
- Her experimental work explores mechanical properties of biofilms, oxygen dynamics in bacterial suspensions, and DNA adsorption at interfaces.
- She teaches advanced courses in active matter, statistical physics, and interdisciplinary experimental projects for M1/M2 students.
Her scientific contributions include studies on bacterial superfluids, rheology under flow, and DNA-surface interactions. Awards include the Three Physicists Prize and Beg Rohu Summer School recognition.
- Research funding from ANR (Jeunes Chercheuses Jeunes Chercheurs 2010, ANR Blanche), LabeX PALM, and the Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale.
- Collaborations span institutions like Rockefeller University, Université Paris Diderot, and CNRS laboratories.
