Carina Yervasi

Carina Yervasi is an Associate Professor at Swarthmore College in the Department of French & Francophone Studies under the Modern Languages & Literatures school. She serves as Executive Director in the Global Engagement Office and co-founder/co-coordinator of the interdisciplinary Global Studies program.

Her research focuses on media cultures of West Africa and the global African diaspora, particularly film and video studies. Teaching areas include French language/culture courses, French New Wave cinema, Francophone Cinemas, and interdisciplinary topics like Diasporas, African Cinemas, Film and Place, and Geographical Thought.

Dr. Yervasi holds a PhD and Certificate in Film Studies from the City University of New York Graduate School and University Center, an MPhil in French, and a BA in French from Hofstra University (studied at Université de Nice).
