Cari Gelle is an Assistant Professor at Saint Catherine University, specializing in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design. She teaches the university's Retail Buying Course and has collaborated with Target buyers to integrate creative mentorship in merchandise assortment planning. Previously, she held teaching roles in fashion and retail merchandising at the Art Institutes International of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Additionally, she served on the Advisory Board for the Retail Merchandising Major at the University of Minnesota.
Her professional experience spans fashion design, product development, and merchandising/buying roles at companies including Wilson’s Leather (apparel and outerwear), Target Corporation (accessories and home furnishings), and As modee North America (board games). Her research interests focus on practical applications of retail strategies, fashion industry dynamics, and collaborative approaches to merchandising education.
