Cara Ryan is a Researcher and Associate Member of the PROJEKT design and social innovation research team at the University of Nîmes. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from New York University (2023), an MA in Anthropology (2020), an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies (2012), and a BA in Anthropology (2007). Her research focuses on autism policy modernization in France, disability justice, and the intersection of anthropology with design and media studies.

Research Interests:
Through ethnographic work, she examines autism categorizations in France, disability infrastructure, and collaborative anthropology/design projects. Her recent projects include the Aspie-Friendly University initiative and a short film exploring haunted town experiences, funded by the Fulbright Commission and Wenner-Gren Foundation.
Publications:
Her work appears in Medical Anthropology and Somatosphere, focusing on pandemic-era disability challenges and French autism policies. Her 2024 book chapter analyzes mutual aid networks in autistic communities.
