Dr. Cara Lamb is a Teaching Fellow in Physical Education at the University of Strathclyde since 2020, holding dual roles as coordinator for the PGDE Physical Education course and module leader for Professional Practice and Curriculum & Pedagogy across Secondary PGDE programs. Her expertise focuses on evidence-based pedagogical approaches, particularly models-based practice and activist approaches in girls’ physical education. Prior to academia, she served 15 years as a secondary school PE teacher and held leadership roles in curriculum and pastoral care.
Her doctoral research (2024) explored the journeys of teachers implementing activist pedagogy to challenge gendered narratives in girls’ PE within a critical transformative paradigm. Current co-supervised doctoral projects examine activist approaches in China and Pakistan. Professional activities include peer reviewing for journals like European Physical Education Review and chairing the Education Organisational Unit since 2020. She contributed to the 2018 project Redesigning Physical Education: An Equity Agenda.
Research interests include teacher professional learning, curriculum innovation, and gender studies, with a focus on equity in educational settings. She has supervised students at undergraduate and master’s levels and participated in projects like the 2022 qualitative data analysis seminar for doctoral trainees.
