Dr. Cara Croft is a Senior Lecturer in Neuroscience at Queen Mary University of London's Blizard Institute, holding dual roles as a Race Against Dementia Fellow and UK Dementia Research Institute Co-Investigator. She completed her PhD at King's College London and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Florida.
Her research investigates molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, focusing on protein aggregation pathways and gene editing therapies. Recent work explores mitochondrial micropeptides and CRISPR-Cas9 applications for muscular dystrophy.
Her laboratory employs in vitro and in vivo models, AAV technologies, and multi-omics approaches to identify therapeutic targets for proteinopathies.
Honors include the McKnight Leadership Award and research fellowships supporting her innovative work in dementia research.
