Caner Imren is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Geophysical Engineering, Istanbul Technical University. His research focuses on tectonics, seismic exploration, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) applications, and Pangea-related continental dynamics. He has led projects such as the Investigation of the Ancient City of Perinthos-Heraklia Using Geophysical Methods (2022–2024).
Research interests include seismic data enhancement for hydrocarbon exploration, diffraction imaging algorithms, and archaeological geophysics. Notable contributions include studies on the North Anatolian Fault, Sea of Marmara tectonics, and the Cretaceous breakup of Pangea. Imren actively collaborates on projects blending geophysical methods with environmental and urban challenges, such as the Water in Istanbul initiative.
