Prof. Candy Justice is an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Department of Journalism at the University of Memphis. She holds an M.A. and B.A. in Journalism from the University of Memphis and the University of Mississippi, respectively. Her career includes 10 years as a reporter, columnist, and editor at The Memphis Press-Scimitar, as well as freelance work for TV Guide, Redbook, and Memphis Magazine. She has also produced a nationally syndicated radio show, Reach Out, and worked in public relations for Hands Across America/USA for Africa.

Research Interests: Focuses on teaching methodologies in journalism education, media ethics, and the intersection of broadcast journalism with public engagement. Advocates for student media rights and has advised DH.com, the student-run independent media outlet, emphasizing First Amendment protections.
Awards:
- 2021: Thomas W. Briggs Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award (top undergraduate teaching honor)
- 2011: Herbert Lee Williams Award (Journalism Alumni Club)
Advising & Leadership: Serves as faculty adviser for DH.com, sits on the publications board and scholarship committee, and judges student-writing contests. Engages in campus governance and community outreach.
Labs/Teams: Directly oversees DH.com, fostering student-led journalism projects and media literacy initiatives.
