معرفی
Assistant Professor Can Uzun is affiliated with both Istanbul Technical University and Altınbaş University, where he works in the Department of Architecture under the College of Architecture. His academic career spans teaching, research, and administrative roles, including serving as Department Head at Altınbaş University from 2022–2025.
- Education
- PhD in Informatics in Architectural Design, Istanbul Technical University (2015)
- MA in Architectural Design (2012)
- Licence in Architecture, Istanbul Technical University (2008)
Can Uzun’s research bridges architectural design and informatics/IT applications in architecture. He explores how digital tools, virtual environments, and technologies like BIM, IoT, and AI influence design behavior, collaboration, and urban planning. His projects include studies on cognition in virtual design environments, digital twins, and the impact of memory on architectural design.
His scientific work spans computational chemistry, focusing on reaction mechanisms, catalysis, and molecular modeling. Key topics include asymmetric synthesis, DFT calculations, CuAAC reactions, and enzyme hydroxylation mechanisms. He has contributed to understanding solvent effects, co-catalysts, and structural properties of coordination polymers.
- Scientific Awards
- 2nd Prize, Beylikdüzü Municipality (2015)
- 3rd Honorable Mention, Izmir Development Agency (2013)
- Category 4 Incentive Award, Architectural Education Association (MimED) (2012)
Uzun has supervised numerous graduate theses at Altınbaş University, covering topics like fractal dimension in hospitals, digital twin prototyping, text-to-image tools in architecture, and urban planning strategies for earthquake risk regions. His students’ work reflects interdisciplinary intersections of architecture, informatics, and computational methods.
