Camron D. Bryant serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Boston University School of Medicine, leading research in molecular genetics of addiction with focus on opioid mechanisms and genetic variation in drug responses.
His academic foundation includes:
- PhD in Neuroscience, University of California, Los Angeles (2006)
- Undergraduate Psychology degree, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
- Postdoctoral training in Genetics, University of Chicago (2007-2012)
Dr. Bryant's laboratory investigates how genetic factors influence addictive behaviors and analgesic drug efficacy, employing behavioral neuroscience and molecular genetics approaches. His work bridges pharmacological mechanisms with neural adaptation processes in substance use disorders, contributing to precision medicine strategies for addiction treatment.
Recognition for his scholarship includes:
- Achievement Award for College Scientists (ARCS)
- IBANGS Outstanding Young Investigator Award
- ACNP Travel Award
As an integral member of Boston University's Graduate Program for Neuroscience, he mentors doctoral candidates and contributes to the Center for Systems Neuroscience and newly established Human Imaging Center. His service extends to editorial roles at Frontiers in Genetics and peer review for leading journals including Genes, Brain and Behavior.
Dr. Bryant directs an active research laboratory at 72 East Concord Street (L-606C), advancing collaborative projects within BU's neuroscience ecosystem through the Medical Campus and Inter-campus Graduate Program.
