Camille Murphy

Camille Murphy serves as Associate Professor of Art and Chair of the Art Department at Moravian University, leading the graphic & interactive design track with energetic engagement in both classroom instruction and professional design practice. She maintains an active studio (SkyBluePink.co) and collaborates with prominent design entities including Pushpin Inc. (Seymour Chwast), Decker Design, and Langton Creative Group.

Her academic foundation includes a BFA in Related Arts—an interdisciplinary undergraduate program spanning fine art, literature, theater, music, and dance—with concentrated focus on illustration and photography, followed by graduate studies in Communication Design (Digital Media concentration) at Pratt Institute. This educational trajectory propelled her into early internet design during its formative years.

Professor Murphy's creative scholarship manifests through client-based commercial work recognized under College Art Association guidelines as equivalent to traditional publications. Her research interests encompass Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Web Design, Branding, and Typography, sustained through active participation in Typographics Conference, museum exhibitions, and digital platforms like It's Nice That and Awwwards. She emphasizes practical application through real-world projects that bridge academic theory and industry demands.

Notable professional achievements include designing over 10 books with Seymour Chwast ("Graphic Style" and "At War with War"), art-directing Booz Allen's "Field Guide to Data Science," creating Spotify social media campaigns, and developing branding for diverse clients ranging from law firms to cannabis companies. She frequently presents at industry conferences including the American Advertising Federation – Greater Lehigh Valley.

Outside academia, Murphy resides in Brooklyn where she engages with New York City's cultural scene through art shows, theater, and real estate events. An avid surfer and snowboarder, she accesses year-round coastal activities through a shared beach house. Her distinctive personal history includes childhood years at a Pocono Hindu Ashram practicing veganism, yoga, and meditation without television or material possessions, alongside having heterochromia (one hazel and one brown eye).
