Adé Hogue

Adé Hogue was a part-time lecturer in the Department of Design at DePaul University and a frequent guest educator at the Graphic Design program of UNC Charlotte's College of Arts + Architecture. He held a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art with a concentration in Graphic Design from UNC Charlotte (2012). His expertise centered on hand-created type, lettering design, and branding, with notable clients including PayPal, Nike, and ALDI. He advocated for social justice, particularly in diversifying the cycling community.

Research interests included typography innovation and the intersection of art/design with social impact. He presented at AIGA lectures, AdobeMAX (2018), and TYPEFORCE 8 exhibitions. His work emphasized cross-disciplinary creativity, drawing on skills from sculpture, printmaking, and digital design.

Awards: Recognized as one of '15 creatives under 30' by PRINT magazine (2015) and recipient of the 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award. He remained committed to mentoring emerging designers through workshops and community initiatives.

Legacy: His teaching philosophy emphasized self-directed learning and exploration beyond the classroom, inspired by his time at UNC Charlotte's Storrs Fabrication Lab. A scholarship fund in his name supports UNC Charlotte students.
