Camilla Winde Gissel

Camilla Winde Gissel is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Center for Research on Extremism (C-REX) at the University of Oslo. Her work focuses on radicalisation, disengagement, and rehabilitation, employing cultural criminological theory to analyze processes of meaning-making across micro, meta, and macro levels. She contributes to the EU-funded Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Network VORTEX, which develops innovative strategies to counter ideological and behavioral radicalization.

Research Focus: Her current work critically evaluates deradicalization programs and reintegration policies for (former) violent extremists. Her latest thesis examined narrative constructions of female foreign fighters in Danish media and political debates, particularly regarding their repatriation from Kurdish-controlled camps in Syria.
