Camilla Stabel Jørgensen

Camilla Stabel Jørgensen serves as Professor and Head of the Social Studies Department at NTNU's Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences. Her expertise spans religious and worldview education, focusing on didactics, excursions, writing literacy, and philosophical dialogue within Norwegian educational contexts.

She earned her doctoral degree from NTNU in 2014 with the thesis "Som du spør får du svar? En empirisk studie av skriving i religions- og livssynsfaget" and completed her master's in religious history at the University of Oslo (2001) analyzing Nidaros Cathedral's stained glass iconography.

Her research examines religion/philosophy didactics, excursion methodologies, writing assessment, and aesthetics in religious contexts. She pioneers the "UtForskerne" approach for primary education, integrating ethical excursions and philosophical conversations to address existential questions and democracy education through critical disciplinary literacy in diverse religious settings.

Recent publications reveal intensified focus on conspiracy theories in education—particularly regarding the 22 July terror attacks—and lived religion through graveyard studies. She bridges historical analysis with contemporary pedagogy, emphasizing writing as a key competence and narrative techniques in religious education across age groups.

Professor Jørgensen actively leads the "Literacy and professionalism in school and working life" research environment as both researcher and steering group member, while contributing to "Development of RLE in communities of practice." Previously, she co-developed resources for the "WRITING" project and "KURLE" mapping initiative.

She collaborates extensively with the NTNU RE Research Group, developing digital tools like the 22 July terror attack teaching materials and the "Etisk ekskursjon og filosofisk samtale" framework, emphasizing slow learning for formation through place-based religious encounters.
