Camilla Halewood is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Surgery & Cancer, Faculty of Medicine, at Imperial College London, and works full-time for Embody Orthopaedic, an Imperial spin-out company specializing in orthopaedic solutions. Her research focuses on biomechanics and knee reconstruction for sports injuries and degenerative joint conditions.
Her educational background includes:
- Master's degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oxford, UK
She completed her PhD at Imperial College London in June 2016 with the thesis "Total Knee Replacements: Design and Pre-Clinical Testing". Her research spans Biomechanics, Orthopaedic Surgery, and Biomedical Engineering, with expertise in pre-clinical testing of knee reconstructions for conditions ranging from ACL ruptures and meniscal tears to severe osteoarthritis. She is affiliated with the MSk Lab and Biomechanics Research Group at Imperial.
As a dedicated STEM Ambassador through STEMNET, she actively promotes science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to young people.
