Cameron Shelton is the McMahon Family Professor of Political Economy and Department Chair at the Robert Day School of Economics and Finance, Claremont McKenna College (CMC). He holds a PhD in Political Economy from Stanford University (2005) and has been at CMC since 2008. His research focuses on empirical political economy, with a focus on legislative redistricting, policy uncertainty, gerrymandering, and campaign strategies. He teaches advanced courses in economics and political economy within the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics program.
Key roles include Director of the Lowe Institute of Political Economy, Research Fellow at the Inland Empire Economic Council, and Co-founder of Suited, Inc. He serves as an Associate Editor for Public Finance Review. His research has been recognized with the Wicksell Prize (2007).
Recent work explores asymmetric voter responses to campaign ads, the impact of traditional districting principles on state legislatures, and the connection between policy uncertainty and manufacturing investment. His articles frequently appear in top journals like the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Public Economics, and American Economic Journal.
