Cameron Lait is a researcher at the KPU School of Horticulture, where he contributes to interdisciplinary studies bridging plant science, entomology, and sustainable resource management. His career spans academic, governmental, and industrial sectors, with affiliations at the University of Alberta, Simon Fraser University, USDA, Penn State University, and Pherotech International.

- BSc in Biology (University of Victoria), with a major in animal and plant physiology and minor in biochemistry and microbiology
- PhD in Renewable Resources and Plant Biochemistry (University of Alberta)
Cameron’s research focuses on plant-insect interactions, chemical defenses in plants as alternatives to pesticides, and environmental impacts on tree health, including urban landscapes and oil sands effluent effects on boreal forests. His work extends to semiochemical-based pest monitoring and honeybee colony management.
His publications span natural resource sciences, plant health, forestry, agriculture, entomology, and biochemistry. Prior to joining KPU, he served as a multi-program inspector for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (BC Coastal Division – Plant Health), conducting compliance inspections and invasive species surveys like Asian spongy moth monitoring.
