Cameron Evans is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Molecular Sciences, The University of Western Australia (UWA), and a member of the Australian Centre for RNA Therapeutics in Cancer. His research focuses on nanomedicine, drug delivery systems, and gene therapies. He holds a PhD from UWA (2008–2012), specializing in polymer nanospheres for imaging and drug delivery post-neurotrauma. Evans collaborates across disciplines, including oncology, genomics, and materials science, to advance biomedical applications.
Research Interests: Nanomedicine platforms, hydrogels, liposomes, transfection agents, and microscopy techniques like expansion microscopy. His work addresses challenges in cancer treatment, gene regulation, and drug delivery mechanisms.
Awards:
- School of Molecular Sciences Early Career Research Award (2022)
- Rising Stars 2022
- Additional Early-Career Recognition (2022)
Grants & Projects: Leads multiple grants including 'Enhancing Antimicrobial Activity Using Synergistic Resistance Mitigation' (ARC), 'Design Principles of Polymers for Intracellular Delivery' (ARC), and collaborations on hydrogel development for cancer immunotherapy. His work spans 56 publications and 13 active/funded projects.
Community Engagement: Chair of STEM Outreach at UWA’s ARC Training Centre, coordinating nanotechnology demonstrations in schools and engaging Indigenous youth in science. Previously commercialized a nanoparticle platform and developed conference apps.
