Camden Reeves is a Professor of Music at the University of Manchester, UK, where he has taught since 2002. Born in 1974 in Oxford and raised in Texas, he comes from a family of jazz musicians and received early training from his grandfather in both classical and jazz traditions. He studied at the University of Exeter (BMus 1992-1995, MMus 1995-1996) and the University of York (PhD 1998-2002), with a Finnish Government (CIMO) Scholarship at the Sibelius Academy (2001-2002).
Reeves is a composer of concert music for orchestral, chamber, and vocal forces, with a focus on piano composition. His work integrates European and American Modernist influences, exploring polyrhythms, pc-set theory, spectralism, and temporal dynamics inspired by cosmology. He is associated with Edition Peters and has recordings of his works commercially available.
