Calvin Warren is an Associate Professor in the Department of African American Studies at Emory University. His research explores Continental Philosophy (particularly post-Heideggerian and nihilistic philosophy), Lacanian psychoanalysis, queer theory, Black Philosophy, Afro-pessimism, and theology. Duke University Press published his first book, Ontological Terror: Blackness, Nihilism, and Emancipation (2018), and he is currently working on a second project titled Onticide: Essays on Black Nihilism and Sexuality.
Research interests include:

- Queer theory and the deconstruction of sexuality
- Theological frameworks in Black thought
- Psychoanalytic approaches to racial trauma
